Mammoth Cave: Day 7

Mammoth Cave was on Mary Ruth's Bucket List.  We took a modified tour and went down 26 stories in an elevator.  We had to bring Ruth's wheel chair because they didn't supply one.

All I could think of during this hike was that I could paint this fence.

It was hard to get good pictures, but we learned some interesting stuff.  It is the longest cave in the world-740 miles, but is like a bowl of spaghetti   It is only 7 x7 square miles.

The cave was owned by a private citizen until it became a National Park in 1941.

We were shocked to learn that people graffitied the cave in the 1800s.    They used a candle.

When we left the cave, they sprayed the chair and our shoes to kill the fungus on the cave floor.  I think that is what caused grandma's wheel chair to test positive for bomb residue when we flew back from O'Hare.  She had to get a pat down.  The agent asked her if she liked her massage.
