Indianapolis, Indiana: Day 14

On the way to Indianapolis, Indiana, we stopped by the Shrum Mound at Campbell Park.

We stopped at the Warm Glow Candle Outlet, too.

When we got to Indianapolis, we went to Benjamin Harrison’s house.  It was our seventh Presidential Site we visited.  Benjamin Harrison was the 23rd president.  He was the grandson of the 9th president, William Henry Harrison.  We thought we were going to his grandfather’s house  and didn't realize we were at the wrong one, until the tour started.  Mary Ruth kept saying that they called him Benjamin instead of William.  We are lucky we are able find our way around all these states.

Ruth's favorite things in the house were this desk and the white door handle.  The desk reminds her of her mailbox in the San Juan, Texas, Post Office.  The door knob reminded her of the knobs in her grandmother's house.

Downtown Indianapolis was nice.

That night we ate an early dinner to celebrate Grandma’s birthday at the famous St Elmo’s Steak House.  To start, we had a bread basket, St. Elmo’s shrimp cocktail  and bean soup.  Then ribeye, augratin potatoes, and green beans.  They brought Grandma a creme brûlée with a candle in it.

Ruth was aggravated that Sherry kept telling everyone her age.
The waiter took a picture with her and then the manager.

By the end of the night, Ruth felt like a celebrity and was glad everyone knew her age.
